Filming Location Information

Lake Spivey has long been a desired filming location for movie makers. The fact that the lake is situated so close to a major metropolitan area and only miles from the world's busiest airport are a plus. The real benefit is that the lake is privately owned and only accessible to the 500 or so property owners around the lake. This limited access can afford approved film makers easy and unmolested use of the lake.

Filming location scouts should know that Lake Spivey is owned and managed by the Lake Spivey Civic Association (LSCA). The association also owns a few properties adjacent to the lake. These are most notably the dam on the east side of the lake and the peninsula at the west end of the lake. The association does not have governance of the neighborhoods around the lake. Some of the seven (7) neighborhoods with lake rights around the lake have their own separate Homeowners Associations (HOA) governing their communities. Other neighborhoods have no HOA. The neighborhoods with active HOAs are Forest Estates, The Landings, Lost Valley, Edgewater, North Shore, and Bay View. The neighborhoods without HOAs are Emerald Drive and South Bay.

Additionally, Lake Spivey is predominantly in Clayton County, Georgia however, the west most portion of the lake is in Henry County, Georgia.  The Lost Valley neighborhood and portions of both Bay View and South Bay are also in Henry County. The other neighborhoods are all in Clayton County.

Use of the lake for filming must be approved by the civic association board. Interested parties should start the process by calling Brent Benedetti, LSCA Lake Manager. He can answer most questions and forward inquiries to the LSCA board. Brent is available during the day and may be reached at (404) 392-9800 or lakemanager@lakespivey.org.
